My Story
What started as a passion for baking has grown into a dream business that provides custom desserts and edible art that touches people around the world. It all began with the first birthday of my son, Julian. We hosted a “Bows and Bowtie Bash”, inviting children to come dressed in their sweetest accessories. I was determined to hand roll cookie dough and decorate over 100 bows and bowties to complement the theme. It was a huge undertaking, a large mess and a very late night! In my heart, I was committed to crafting a special memory, pouring all my love into every bite. From that event forward I promised my son (and later on my other two children) a special theme-based cookie for each of their birthday parties. Six years later, with the encouragement from my family and many supportive friends, I launched my own custom cookie business -- “In The Mix by Joanna”. As the business grew, a new name and identity reflecting a broader scope of products, services and partnerships has emerged -- LOVE MADE ME DO IT ®.
It remains my greatest pleasure to help you share sweet moments and special memories among families, friends and colleagues. We look forward to creating more beautiful art and sweet moments with you, because after all… LOVE MADE ME DO IT.
NOTE: Joanna Lander is a former Oncology Social Worker now pursuing a Food Science & Nutrition degree. Through her professional and personal experience, she has come to realize that a healthy perspective on life is about eating wholesome, substantially nourishing foods, most of the time. Celebrations and milestones deserve a sweet (and colorful!) indulgence, in moderation. As a business principle, LOVE MADE ME DO IT places a high value on giving back to local communities through charitable contributions of products and services and teaching others her craft.
